Port Townsend/Port Hadlock Veterinary Hospitals
Animal-Human Bond Since 1979
Hospital Mission Statement
“While emphasizing our core values of respect, professional integrity and compassion, we strive to provide exemplary service for our clients, as well as consistent, high-quality and value-driven medical care for each of their animals. We thereby seek to celebrate in the human-animal bond that enriches each of our lives.”
The veterinarians and staff at Chimacum Valley Veterinary Hospital and Pet Townsend Veterinary Clinic have set a high standard for pet care in Jefferson County. Owners doctors Jeff Highbarger and Abbie Doll, who purchased the hospital and clinic in 2010, as well as their entire staff, know that your pet is a valued member of the family and deserves healthcare from a dedicated and knowledgeable veterinary team. We are proud of our reputation as compassionate veterinary professionals who provide the best possible care at an affordable price.
With our two locations nine miles apart in Port Hadlock and Port Townsend, we are able to offer a broad range of veterinary services—from traditional preventive and dental care, diagnostic testing, and surgical services to non-traditional integrated healing therapies like acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine—which means we can respond to your specific preferences when it comes to the care and treatment of your pet.
Founded in 1979, Chimacum Valley Veterinary Hospital is a full-service veterinary healthcare center located in Port Hadlock, WA. The hospital offers a wide range of services including wellness examinations, dentistry, vaccines, parasite detection and prevention, dermatology, surgery, internal medicine, weight management, senior pet care, and avian and exotic pet care. We also offer state-of-the-art equipment and exam rooms and advanced diagnostic capabilities such as an in-house laboratory, digital radiographs, and ultrasound procedures—all incorporated into a facility that promotes a calm, home-like atmosphere for our patients and clients.
In 2003, the Pet Townsend Veterinary Clinic started out as a mobile veterinary service until it found a permanent home at its current location, near the first hole of the Port Townsend Golf Course. The comprehensive traditional veterinary services offered at Chimacum Valley Veterinary Hospital are complemented by the alternative healing therapies which are offered at the hospital’s sister clinic in Port Townsend.
While traditional veterinary medicine is often our primary modality when diagnosing and treating disease, we believe many cases can greatly benefit from Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) including acupuncture, herbal remedies, and nutritional therapy. Under the guidance of Dr. Abbie Doll, who has extended training and multiple certifications in TCVM, we not only examine and treat the body, but care for your whole pet, taking into account all of the variables that influence physical health and well-being. We strongly believe that when pets receive integrated, wellness-focused veterinary care, along with a loving home, they have the best chance of living a long and happy life.
In order to provide such a comprehensive approach to pet care, Chimacum Valley Veterinary Hospital and Pet Townsend Veterinary Clinic place great importance on hiring only the most highly-trained and compassionate veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff. Each member of our medical team is well-versed in veterinary trends and state-of-the art technology, including digital dental radiology, and supports the techniques used in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine, which is also an important part of our practice.
A vital part of our commitment to the health of your pet is our relationship with you, the pet owner. We recognize that providing the highest quality veterinary care possible includes keeping you at the center of all we do. For that reason, we work closely with you to understand your pet’s unique health needs, develop a customized wellness plan, and ensure you have the knowledge required to be a responsible, loving caregiver to your pet. It is our goal not just to ensure the health and well-being of your pet, but to be your partner in strengthening the bond you share with your companion.
